Showings of the 1937 newsreel - "Amoskeag"
Ongoing - during museum hours
Included with regular admission to the Millyard Museum
View the 1937 docudrama "Amoskeag" filmed in Manchester by the March of Time newsreel company. This 6-minute film reenacts the drama of 75 years ago. In 1936 Manchester was faced with the bankruptcy of its major employer, the Amoskeag Manufacturing Company. City leaders formed a new company, Amoskeag Industries, Inc., that bought out the Amoskeag Millyard, and brought in new and diversified industries to the city. The inspiring story of how Manchester pulled itself up from its bootstraps in the midst of the Great Depression made national news. This remarkable film includes scenes shot in downtown Manchester and in the Millyard featuring local residents.
The Manchester Historic Association is grateful to Amoskeag Industries, Inc. for funding the new portable theatre in the Millyard Museum that allows the showing of the "Amoskeag" newsreel.

"Hands on History” Family Activities
Ongoing - during museum hours
Included with regular admission to the Millyard Museum
Please note: Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Spend some enjoyable "low tech" family time in the Millyard Museum. Our educational and challenging "gallery hunts" will give you a chance to explore the museum and learn about Manchester's history from the Native Peoples to the present time. Choose the topic you want: People, Transportation, Immigration and Diversity, or Animals. Can you find the answers? Also, enjoy the activities in "Lizzie's Learning Center" in the special exhibit "Lisa Fletcher: Botanical Watercolors 1892," and play old-fashioned games including checkers, Parcheesi, dominoes and cards.
